What was the guy who made Bradley Cooper a comedy star doing directing an underground documentary about a dead punk rocker? When I first learned about this movie, another odd thing I encountered was that this it was directed by Todd Phillips, famed bro comedy filmmaker behind mainstream hits The Hangover and Old School. Then, in Littleton’s Notable People section, I saw the following: “GG Allin, punk rock singer-songwriter buried in Littleton.” That threw me for a loop -a punk rocker from bucolic northern New England? This had to be a joke, I thought, so I clicked on his name to find our more, which led me to the mildly traumatizing but wonderful discovery of this documentary. Also among the listed Sites of Interest for Littleton on Wikipedia are: “The River Walk and Covered Bridge” and “Chutter’s Candy Store, which claims to hold the world record for Longest Candy Counter.” How wholesome and picturesque! Statue of Pollyanna in GG Allin’s hometown. I read that the writer of Pollyanna was from Littleton and that they even have a bronze statue of Pollyanna in Littleton’s very small and quaint downtown. I of course looked it up on Wikipedia, and learned that it is a tiny burg way up in the northern part of the state, on the border with Vermont -the middle of nowhere. A friend of mine who works in real estate was trying to sell a property in Littleton, NH and asked me if I knew about the town (since I’m originally from New England).
